Defend the Orphan | CoreLuv Haiti Mission Trip

“Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the orphan. Fight for the right of widows.” -Isaiah 1:17

This past June I had the opportunity to travel to Haiti with CoreLuv and defend the orphan. Before we arrived, I personally didn’t know what to expect. I had done missions before and served but never somewhere other then Texas. Everyone told me what to assume and how to act but it really didn’t do it justice. When we first arrived I was at a loss for words. Haiti is far from America in realms of comfort; from crammed streets to trash thrown everywhere and hot hot hot weather. I felt like a fish out of water. We finally arrived at the orphanage and let me tell you, that discomfort went away instantly after seeing those sweet faces. The pure joy that exuded from them is indescribable y’all. They don’t care who you are, they will hug you and smile at you and tug on you to play with them. What a warm welcome to strangers who came to love on THEM. I felt like I was receiving more love then I could even try to provide them. These kids are the definition of childlike faith. The way they praise the Lord and leap for joy for one another is so encouraging. Why can’t we have that faith? Despite each child’s circumstances, they choose JOY daily. For me, I can’t say the same. I complain, I am selfish, I don’t always cheer on my brothers/sisters in Christ, I take things for granted. Never did I think that these children would teach me something. Something so valuable. The love of Jesus is so real and its immensely great in each child in the Mayan orphanage. I am so thankful I got to take part in such an awesome experience and I can’t wait to be back in January. I thought I would share some photos I was able to take in hopes that you could get a glimpse of just how incredibly these children truly are. 2016-09-02_0001.jpg

We played relay games with the kids that correlated with the lessons we taught them. This day it was about running the race for Jesus.

Before our last day, we were able to take the kids to the beach. Which for us, sounds like no big deal but for them, its like going to Disney World.
